DescriptionIllu pulmonary circuit.jpg	العربية: الدورة الدموية الصغرى أو الدورة الرئوية English: pulmonary circuit Español: La perfusión sanguínea de los alvéolos proviene de la circulación pulmonar, que difiere de la circulación sistémica en múltiples características hemodinámicas y funcionales. El circuito pulmonar empieza en la aurícula derecha, donde llega prácticamente toda la sangre venosa del organismo, pasa al ventrículo derecho y desde allí es impulsada al territorio alveolar a través de la arteria pulmonar que termina en una extensa red capilar que envuelve a los alvéolos, quedando la sangre separada del aire alveolar por una membrana de medio a un micrón de espesor. Una vez arterializada, la sangre es llevada por las venas pulmonares a la aurícula izquierda, donde se incorpora al circuito mayor. Cabe destacar que las arterias y venas pulmonares reciben su denominación por sus características morfológicas y no por el tipo de sangre que conducen. Los detalles de la fisiología y patología de este territorio son complejos por lo que son generalmente caen en el campo dl fisiólogo o del especialista, pero sus características básicas deben ser conocidas por el clínico general.
