Description
English: When in the presence of an electric field, the d sub-orbitals will differentiate into the sub-orbitals that we generally know (XY, YZ, XZ, etc.). However, when there is a lack of a magnetic field, the sub-orbitals will combine into one sphere that is completely degenerate in energy.
