  1. Electron guns
  2. Electron beams
  3. Mask for separating beams for red, green , and blue part of displayed image
  4. Phosphor layer with red, green, and blue zones
  5. Close-up of the phosphor-coated inner side of the screen

This image was rendered using the Persistence of Vision Raytracer (see http://www.povray.org/) - merged with the close-up insert and numbers added using a graphics software package. Below is the scene description used for rendering the overview and close-up images.
