ERP Internals/Enterprise Size
Enterprises vary in size from tiny (2 people, <$100,000 annual revenue) to gigantic (>one hundred thousand people, >$100B annual revenue). In North America, 99% of enterprises have less than 50 people and less than $5M annual revenue. With regard to ERP packages, one size does NOT fit all. The bigger the enterprise, the more complex and comprehensive the ERP must be. A large enterprise's ERP requires more functions and the functions must be more comprehensive. On the other hand, the ERP ideally suited to a $1B enterprise is massive overkill for a $1M enterprise. The generic ERP described in this document is a medium-sized ERP with accompanying notes about the changes for larger and smaller enterprises.
