In addition to the Lagrangian description of the system, the Hamiltonian description can also be used.

The Hamiltonian ${\mathcal {H}}$ can be constructed as follows

${\mathcal {H}}=\sum _{n}p_{n}{\dot {q}}_{n}-{\mathcal {L}}$

Where $p$ is the momentum, $q$ is the position, and ${\mathcal {L}}$ is the Lagrangian.
