The quantity $\mathbb {I} ^{*}$ denotes the complex conjugate of the phasor current. To get the complex conjugate of $\mathbb {I}$, we have two formulas:

Given: $\mathbb {I} =A+jB=M\angle \phi$

• $\mathbb {I} ^{*}=A-jB$ (rectangular)
• $\mathbb {I} ^{*}=M\angle -\phi$ (polar)
