Word order is quite flexible in Cherokee.

Place the most salient (important/new) information at the beginning of the sentence.

Negation

Use irrealis yi- prefix along with hla (not)

"When"

Use irrealis yi- prefix by itself.

Conjunctions

And

(1) ale, OR

(2) -hno suffix after second element
