Canadian Property Law/Glossary/Lex situs
Lex situs, or "law of the land" is the legal principle that land is governed by the law where the land is located, never by other law, regardless of contracts or relationships in other places.
See Canadian_Property_Law/Introduction for the distinction between real and personal, movable and immovable property. See Canadian_Property_Law/Real_Property for the history of the common law.
