Þe Onginn

1 In þem Onginn scop Godd þie Hefne and þie Erðe. 2 Nu was þie Erðe wœst and æmtiȝ, Þiestre was ofer þem Andlitt þer Diepe, and þe Gast Goddes ƕarf ofer þen Watern.

3 And Godd sæȝde, “Werðe Liht!” and þær warþ Liht. 4 Godd saw þat þat Liht was god, and he scedd þat Liht of þer Þiestre. 5 Godd namde þat Light “Dæȝ,” and þie Þiestre namde he “Naht.” And þær was Æfen, and þær was Morgen – þe ærste Dæȝ.

6 And Godd sæȝde, “Sei ane Ƕalf betwix þen Watern, um Water of Water totoscaden.” 7 So scop Godd þie Ƕalf and sced þat Water under þer Ƕalf of þat Water þæronbufen to. And it was so. 8 Godd hatte þie Ƕalf “Roder.” And þær was Æfen, and þær was Morgen - þe oðre Dæȝ.

9 And Godd sæȝde, “Læt þat Water under þem Roder to anem Stede gegadered werðen, and læt dryge Folde ætiewen.” And it was so. 10 God hatte þie dryge Folde “Land,” and þie gegadreden Water hatte he "Sæn.” And Godd sah, þat it god was.

11 Þenn sæȝde Godd, “Læt þat Land Planten kennen: sædberende Planten and Beame on þem Lande þe Ofet mid Sæde þærin birþ, æfter hjeren syndrigen Kynnen.” And it was so. 12 Þat Land kennde Planten: Planten þe Sæde æfter hjeren Kynnen bereþ, and Beame þe Ofet mid Sæde þærin æfter hjeren Kynnen bereþ. And Godd sah, þat it god was. 13 And þær was Æfen, and þær was Morgen - þe þridde Dæȝ.

14 And Godd sæȝde, “Læt Lihte in þer Ƕalf þes Roders wesen, um þen Dæȝ of þer Naht to scaden, and læt hje als Taken þeȝnen, um goddkunde Teiden to marken, and Dage and Ȝære, 15 and let them be lights in þer Ƕalf þes Roders, um Liht on þer Erðe to gefen.” And it was so. 16 God scop twa greate Lihte—þat griettere Liht, um þen Dæȝ to reiksen and þat læsse Liht, um þie Naht to reiksen. He scop eak þie Sterren. 17 Godd sette hje in þer Ƕalf þes Roders, um Liht on þer Erðe to gefen, 18 um þen Dæȝ and þie Naht to reiksen, and um Light of Þiestre to scaden. And Godd sah, þat it god was. 19 And þær was Æfen, and þær was Morgen - þe fierðe Dæȝ.

20 And Godd sæȝde, “Læt þat Water mid libbenden Wihten teimen, and læt Fugeln onbufen þie Folde ofer þie Ƕalf þes Roders fleegen.” 21 So scop Godd þie greaten Wihte þer Sæ and ælc libbende Þing, þærmid þat Water teimþ, and þe þærin hwerfeþ, æfter hjeren Kynnen, and æȝƕilc fiðerde Fugel æfter his Kynn. And Godd sah, þat it god was. 22 Godd blesste hje and sæȝde, “Gewæstmbereþ and maniȝfaldeþ and fylleþ þat Water in þen Sæn, and læt þie Fugeln on þer Erðe ieken.” 23 And þær was Æfen, and þær was Morgen - þe feifte Dæȝ.

24 And Godd sæȝde, “Læt the land produce libbende Wihte æfter hjeren Kynnen: þat Feoh, þie Wihte, þe andlang þen Grund gæþ, and þie wilden Diere, æȝƕilce æfter seinem Kynn.” And it was so. 25 God scop þie wilden Diere æfter hjeren Kynnen, þat Feoh æfter hjeren Kynnen and alle þie Wihte, þe andlang þen Grund gæþ, æfter hjeren Kynnen. And Godd sah, þat it god was.

26 Þenn sæȝde Godd, “Læteþ usic Mannkynn in userem Bilþ maken, in userer Geleiknes, soþat hje waldeþ þie Fisce in þem Sæ and þie Fugle in þem Roder ofer, ofer þem Feoh and allen þen wilden Dieren, and ofer allen þen Wihten, þe on þie Folde gæþ.”

27 So scop Godd Mankynn in his agene Bilþ, in þem Bilþ Goddes scop he hje; Werr and Weif scop he hje.

28 Godd blesste hje and sæȝde to hjem, “Gewæstmbæreþ and maniȝfaldeþ; fylleþ þie Erðe and gewildeþ scie. Waldeþ ofer þie Fisce in þer Sæ and þie Fugeln in þem Roder and ofer æȝƕilcer libbender Wiht þe on þie Folde gæþ.”

29 Þenn sæȝde Godd, “Ic gefe ȝu æȝƕilce sædberende Plante on þem Andlitt þer halen Erðe and æȝƕilcen Beam þe Ofet mid Sæde þærin hafþ. Hje beeþ ȝuere fœr Foden. 30 And to allen þen Nieten þer Erðe and allen þen Fugeln in þem Roder and allen þen Wihten þe andlang þer Folde gæþ—æȝƕam þe þe Æðm Leifes þærin hafþ—I gefe give æȝƕilce grœne Plante fœr Foden.” And it was so.

31 Godd sah alle þe gescapen hafde, and it was sweiðe god. And þær was Æfen, and þær was Morgen - þe sixte Dæȝ.
