The Arabic word for "what" in question sentences is usually ماذا (maadha) or the shorter form ما (maa).
ماذا (maadha) or ما (maa) is used to translate the following sentences from English to Arabic.

What is your name?
What did you do?
What are you doing?
What is this?
What will you do?

Just like in English the word for "What" usually goes at the beginning of the sentence in Arabic.
