026.01-3 Weep no more . . . watery floor       These lines reference Lycidas, a poem by John Milton in 1637. The pastoral dealt with Milton's sorrow upon losing his friend in an accident at sea, thus the lines "sunk though he be beneath the watery floor." Joyce's lines speak directly to Milton.[1]
