Annotations to James Joyce's Ulysses/Cyclops/330

Annotations edit

Abba!     (Syriac-Greek) Father.[1] The word is chiefly used as an invocation to God as the Heavenly Father.

Adonai!     (Hebrew) My Lord.[2] This term is usually substituted for the Tetragrammaton YHWH, the sacred name of the God, which Jews consider too sacred to be uttered.
