American Ghost Towns/Ghost towns in Ohio/Ghost towns in Franklin County/Shattucksburg
Shattucksburg was a small settlement in Clinton and Perry Townships that ended up a major settlement in the area history. The Shattuck family owned much of the Perry Township land, and it was divided by family members. Eventually, Simon Shattuck sold off some of his land at W. Henderson Road and what is now a railroad (the railroad did not exist yet). Houses were built and the settlement was named Shattucksburg. Nearby, a wooden schoolhouse was built on the Columbus-Delaware Road (now Olentangy River Road), and it exists today as a private residence.
