*NOTE: All wakeboarders in AY sponsored wakeboarding class must wear a ski vest.
Have the Advanced Beginner’s Swimming Honor.
1. Know and practice the following safety rules
edita. Never wakeboard at night.
editb. Never wakeboard during an electrical storm.
editc. Always wear a ski vest while wakeboarding.
editd. Make sure the wakeboarding rope is in good condition.
edite. Make sure the wakeboarding bindings are in good condition.
editf. Always have a spotter and flag in the boat.
editg. Stay clear of objects, such as other skiers, swimmers, tubers, docks or floating objects.
edith. If you fall let go of the rope.
editi. After a fall, raise a hand to indicate you are all right.
editj. Do not stand in the boat while it is moving.
edit2. Know the following hand signals
edita. Slower
editThumbs down
b. Speed is OK
editc. Faster
editd. Back to dock
editPat your head or turn finger in a circle (turning your finger in a circle means turn around, not essentially back to dock.)
e. Stop
editf. Turn
edit3. Put on the wakeboard by yourself. Be able to remove the wakeboard in deep water by yourself.
edit4. Execute a deep-water start on the wakeboard on a full line rope.
editRemember to stay in your ball and then slowly stand up, using your weight to control your left and right movement. Keep your arms straight so the line won't go slack.
