The Internet Archive team began an effort to repair link on Wikipedia in late 2015. Two notable tools were developed, Internet Archive Bot, and Wayback Medic. They evolved through practical experience and iteration. This book describes a system of first principles, and some practical solutions.

The concepts described here are applicable to link rot, wherever it might exist. Wikipedia is the fertile testing ground for link rot discovery and repair.
