Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all. "

My name is Dina Agudelo. I am 25 years old and I was born and raised in Colombia, South America. I came to this beautiful "land of the free and home of the brave" when I was a just teenager. My first language is Spanish, and I am currently attending College to pursue a career in Criminal Justice.

The first couple of months in the U.S. were really challenging for me since I was a high school student, in a new country, surrounded by people who did not speak my language and no friends. You try to take a test in a language which you don't know and see what it's like! It's no fun at all, believe me!

I had a very hard time adapting to my new life during those first few months, but I knew that all the sacrifice and hard work that my Mom endured for many years to bring me here was because she wanted me to have a better life and to have what she never had... Her example is what motivated me to deal with my own challenges and gave me the strength to keep going.
