  • The former South African-administered territory of South West Africa became self-governing in 1990 and changed its name to Namibia.
  • Namibian meter stamps are grouped as follows:
A - Territory of SOUTH WEST AFRICA, 1930 - 1990
B - NAMIBIA, 1990 to present
PO - Special stamps generated only by Post Office machines



GROUP A: Territory of South West Africa, 1931 – 1990 edit

  • Franks contain “SOUTH WEST AFRICA” (English) and usually “SUIDWES AFRIKA” (Afrikaans).
