International Postage Meter Stamp Catalog/Macedonia

Macedonia edit

  • The first meter stamps appeared in 1992. Macedonia became an independent state in 1991 when Yugoslavia was disintegrating into its constituent parts. In February 2019 the country was renamed The Republic of North Macedonia or Severna Makedonija in Macedonian. For issues before 1992 see YUGOSLAVIA. All stamps are inscribed “MACEDONIA”, “MAKEDONIJA”, “MAKEДOHИJA”, “MAKEΔOHИJA” or are without country name but have a Macedonian town mark.
  • The stamps are grouped according to usage:
A - For general commercial and private use
PO - Generated only by machines in Post Offices

NOTE: Catalog values are not provided because almost no supply and demand data could be found by the authors.

GROUP PO: Special stamps generated only by meters and franking machines used in Post Offices edit

Group PO impressions are printed on self-adhesive labels using desktop printers - the Lexmark 2390+ is known to have been used for this purpose. The labels are then attached to the mail item.
Labels can be fed into the printer upside down, leading to inverted prints – these are not listed separately. Poor alignment can also mean that printing runs over one or more labels – see image for Type PO5.2b.
A number of official labels have been used, as listed below, although blank labels have also been used.

Label A
Provisional label.
Yugoslavian label with country name crossed out or cut off.

Label B
As per Label A, but “MACEDONIA” at top of left box and “MAKEДOHИJA” at top of right box.

Label C

Label D

Label E
As per Label D but with country name in lower case at bottom of box.

Label F
Double box layout as per Label B, but country names at the bottom and without the winged ‘ptt’ logo.
Photocopy shown - original would be red.

Label G
As per Label F but the upper frame line is complete, and the characters “ПТТ” are stacked at bottom centre.

Label H
As per Label G but with an inner panel at the top.

Label I
Red box with simulated perforations at right with country name below.
Diagonal yellow printed “PTT MACEDONIA ПТТ МАКЕДОНИЈА”.

The diagonal yellow print reads “MACEDONIAN POST” and “МАКЕДОНСКА ΠΟШТА” on alternate lines.

Label K
As per Label J but the red box is over a white background that extends vertically through the yellow print.

Label L
As per Label J but the diagonal yellow print extends all the way to the edge of the simulated perforations.
