International Postage Meter Stamp Catalog/Eswatini (Swaziland)

Eswatini (Swaziland) edit

  • The first meter appeared in the early 1960s when the country was a British protectorate.
  • Meter stamps issued during the protectorate period are inscribed “SWAZILAND”. In 1968 the country achieved independence, and meter inscriptions were changed to “KINGDOM OF SWAZILAND”. In 2018 the contry's name was changed again to the Kingdom of Eswatini.
  • The stamps are grouped according to period of issue and inscription:
A - Issued under period of British protectorate, inscribed “SWAZILAND”
B - Issued since independence, inscribed “KINGDOM OF SWAZILAND”
C - Issued since name change to Kingdom of Eswatini (no stamps reported as of 2021)

NOTE: Both the B11 and B12 stamp dies appear to have been mounted incorrectly in their respective machines so that the country name appears at the sides rather than at the bottom where it was most likely intended to be. Stamps from Francotyp-Postalia "EFS3000" machines probably exist with country inscription at bottom, but they have not been seen by or reported to us.
