Summary

Description
English: Picture of a high-quality Japanese Soroban (Abacus). If memory serves this cost about 6,000 yen.

By depressing the top button as shown, the two horizontal rods move up and down forcing the top row of beads up, and the other beads down. This 'zeros' the abacus.

I took this picture myself, and am making it freely available to the web, so that future generations can know the beauty of looking at a well crafted soroban.
