Summary

Description
English: Sandstone section in Church (Rock) Cemetery The cemetery is partly cut out of the local ridge of yellow Bunter Sandstone. Many Bunter beds seem to be fairly amorphous, but this section clearly shows a lot of variation in bedding. Even below the lowest main discontinuity, deposits with a variety of intersecting angles can be observed, and there are thin layers of redder deposit between the main yellow material. Above this is an intruding redder layer, which appears to have been scoured off to a fine point before being overlaid by the more vivid yellow layer. Above this there is further variety in the stratification. It's also noticeable how, above the lowest main break, there is a much higher presence of rounded pebbles. These are presumably river debris in the general sand deposit, rather than glacial. To give a sense of scale, the roughly rectangular incision is approximately 25cm wide.
