DescriptionPassing loop progress at Dovey Junction - geograph.org.uk - 1083522.jpg
English: Passing loop progress at Dovey Junction. The latest view of the installation of the new, part complete, passing loop at Dovey Junction. Steel sleepers have been laid on a bed of ballast and rails upon them. The loop is required to allow a move towards an hourly service on the Aberystwyth route but that cannot be implemented until after the new ERTMS signalling system has been introduced, sometime in 2009 (originally scheduled for 2008). One of the class 158 train units based at Machynlleth has had ERTMS signalling equipment installed for testing purposes. For more information see 1043049 and 512012 . For those who require a more technical description of ERTMS see http://www.ertms.com/2007v2/what.html .
