Description
English: The life of a salt pan worker is harsh especially at a daily wage of few hundred rupees. Marakkanam in Tamil Nadu, India has many salt pans where they produce sea salt by drying up sea water that is pumped into pans. The industry is facing a number of problems recently and many workers now prefer to do daily labor in construction industry instead of working in highly saline conditions for a considerable number of hours every day.

В Маракканаме, расположенном в штате Тамилнад Индии, находятся множество соляных копий для добычи морской соли. Её добывают осушая часть морского дна, отгораживая его от моря заслонами. Отрасль сейчас сталкивается с определёнными трудностями. Многие работники предпочитают трудиться в области строительства, нежели работать в сильно засоленных условиях по множеству часов.
