Summary

Description

A maple tree which has been tapped in the "traditional" way to harvest maple syrup. In this situation, a hole has been bored into the maple tree and a "tap" inserted. The fluid which is used to make maple syrup, sap, will then slowly drip from the maple tree's tap into the bucket below. The bucket's contents, when full, will be later be relocated and then boiled (which is possible through a variety of methods, most often involving a stainless-steel pan). The boiling process will turn the sap into "pure" maple syrup (to either be sold or enjoyed). Boiling is neccasary to remove the unbalanced ammount of water in the sap. This process has been superseded by methods like this.
