Summary

Description
English: Fresh fruit nsafu - safoutier - butterfruit shown, also with skin and raw pulp split open to show center kernel covered and uncovered. The fresh fruit shown here is somewhat dense and slightly tough, but when allowed to soak a few minutes in hot water, the skin and green pulp swell slightly and become very soft - often described as soft as butter, very similar to a tangy avocado. Can also be grilled for a few minutes over heat to soften the pulp. Bluish-purple fruit shown measured approx. 7 cm in length x 3.5 cm in widest diameter. Open halves showing pulp 6.5 cm in length, brown covered kernel 6 cm x 2.5 cm, segmented kernel 4 cm x 2.5 x 1.5 cm.
