French Defence: Advance Variation
editThis is the main line for White, sometimes called the Paulsen Attack.[1][2] Of Black's several responses, the main line is 5...Qb6, adding pressure to White's d4 pawn and continuing development.
5...Bd7, the Euwe Variation, is a good alternative move that has some strong proponents.[3]
