9th February, 2000 (Greeting 2000) edit

On 9th February 2000 MaltaPost issued a set of five greetings stamps which will help the public put a personal touch on their correspondence.

  • 3c stamp shows a present and a bouquet of yellow roses.
  • 6c stamp shows an inventation.
  • 16c stamp shows a Valentine's Day atmosphere.
  • 20c stamp shows a New Year's Eve celebration.
  • 22c stamp shows two wedding rings and a bouquet of cream roses.

7th March, 2000 (Malta in the 20th century) edit

On 7th March 2000 Maltapost issued the second set of postage stamps of the new millennium. This set consists of four stamps and are endeavor to give visual meaning to the changes wrought on the Maltese and Gozitan landscape and culture during the 20th century.

28th March, 2000 (Sport and Sydney Olympics) edit

On 28th March 2000 Maltapost issued a set of four stamps about different sports events both locally and international.

  • 16c stamp shows two sports from the XXVII Sydney Olympics.
  • 26c stamp shows another three sports from the XXVII Sydney Olympics.
  • 37c stamp shows the European Championship football games, the EURO 2000.

9th May, 2000 (Europa 2000) edit

For the first time in the history of PostEurop, a single design used for an issue on the common date of 9 May 2000 through Europe. This event shows the PostEurop involvement in the construction of close cultural bonds between its members.

28th June, 2000 (Air Transport 1900-2000) edit

On 28th June Maltapost issued four stamps in a souvenir sheet.

  • 6c stamp illustrates Imperial Airways De Havilland DH.66 Hercules G-EBMW City of Cairo, that is claimed to be the first commercial aircraft to carry fare-paying passengers from London to Malta.
  • 6c stamp illustrates LZ-127 Graft Zeppelin, a 236.5 metre-long airship which was the most admired of the entire LZ series.
  • 16c stamp shows a Douglas DC-3 Dakota G-AJAY which was operated by the airline from June 1949, together with Air Malta Ltd.'s logo in the background.
  • 16c stamp illustrates one of the two Airbus A320-211s owned by the Air Malta, these being 9H-ABQ Zejtun and 9H-ABP Rabat.

19th July, 2000 (Fireworks) edit

On 19th July Maltapost issued 5 stamps with the theme of Fireworks, in courtesy of 'Lily Band Club' of Mqabba and 'St. Joseph Club and De Rohan Band' of Zebbug.

18th October, 2000 (Children's Stamps) edit

On 18th October Maltapost for the first time issued stamps by the paintings of children. The ages of these four children vary from 6 to 14 years.
