Soapwort
(Saponaria officinalis)
Description:
Soapwort looks a lot like Campion, but you will notice that its "balloon" not very big around - almost as if it had not been blown up. The flower has five white to pink petals, but unlike the Campion, the petals do not have notches in them.

Quick Facts:
As the name "Soapwort" suggests, this plant can be used as a mild soap. It makes such a gentle soap, that it was once used for cleaning the Shroud of Turin, a piece of fabric believed by many to be the cloth placed on the body of Jesus at the time of his burial.
