When you think of France, you think of a country in Europe, right? Well, France is more than just that part! Two parts of France are located in North America: Guadeloupe and Martinique, both islands in the Caribbean sea (France also has territories in North America - see Saint Martin, Saint Barthélemy, Clipperton Island, and Saint Pierre and Miquelon).
Guadeloupe and Martinique are in the Caribbean, and so are tropical. They were very important to France for their sugar plantations.
