What is the history of this language?Edit
Albanian language is a branch in the Indo-European languages tree, which means that is distinctly related to English, Sanskrit, and other Indo-European languages. However, it does not share the same group with any other Indo-European language or any language in the world, although it has borrowed and given loanwords to Greek, Baltic, and Slavic languages. The Albanian language has an ancient history. It is thought to have descended from the Pelasgo-Illyrian language spoken in Ballkan peninsula and it's surroundings.
Albanian, at one point or another, was written in seven different scripts, two of which were created only to write Albanian. The oldest script in Albanian was written in the Latin (like English) script, and it was always used the most. However, the Greek alphabet was also popular from 1500-1850. Albanian was even written with an Arabic script. This was because Albania and some neighbouring countries were conquered by the Ottoman Empire, and the Arabic script was used by the Muslims well into the 20th century.
