I'm very quickly trying to figure it out. Obviously, I don't have it down for right here.

Engineering Acoustics edit

Started in 2005 by Luc Mongeau, instructor in acoustics at Purdue University, along with the students registered in the course. Continued in the fall of 2008 by the same instructor, now moved to McGill University. The project is entering its third round of revisions in fall 2010. The course is Mech 510: Engineering Acoustics. Seventeen students are registered and will contribute to the wikibook for a semester project grade in the fall semester.

Introduction

Management is not a new subject. It existed since the dawn of humanity. People have been managing agriculture land, families and civilization. This subject is an interdisciplinary subject. Which simply means it is a mixture of different subjects. Managers have to worry about many things at one time. They have to worry about budgets, motivation, goals and objectives, finance and so forth. For example when the Egyptian were building the pyramid they were also following some principles of management. This book would also be dealing with the subject of mangement but from a business organization perspective. First, we have to define what management really is. Definition Different authors have given different definitions. The following are some of them:- • Management is coordinating work activities so that they are completed efficiently and effectively with and through other people. Robbins • Management is the art and science of decision making and leadership. Donald J. Cough • To manage is to forecast, to plan, to organize, to command, to coordinate, and to control. Henry Fayol In this manual, we would be using the following definition.

The key word in the above definition is “Process “. At the end of the day, a manger should only focus on Processes. Unfortunately in todays time manager are more focus on results. This is because getting the right result always leads to the promotion. The problem of becoming result oriented we lose our focus on ethical issues and end up doing more harm than good.

Understanding Process Process is basically a sequential steps taken to achieve a goal. These sequential steps have to have two basic characteristics. They have to be effective and efficient. This is one of the reason a good manager has to updated so that they can improve the processes. The most important aspect about process, is that it has to be written.

CHALLENGES OF PAKISTANI MANAGERS One of the biggest challenges of Pakistani mangers is that they are trained on management theories based on western capaitalism. These theories were deisgned for a different society with different values. Pakistani society is different so there managerial style would also be different. If Pakistani managers have to be successful they have to develop a managerial style which reflect the society and values they live by. A perfect example was the south east asian countries. There managerial style is the refelection of their religion. It is a known fact that their business processes are heavealy influenced by buddhism, shintoism and confuciousism. The question we have to ask what is the managerial style of a pakistani. A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO ISLAMIC MANAGEMENT PERSPECTIVE By now we know that management is a process of reaching ones goals and objectives. Islamic management is quiet different from rest of the managerial theories. • The criteria of success is different • The criteria of decsioins making is also different • Even the goals set by the mangers have a different criteria Lets briefly discuss these three aspect: Criteria of Success As a muslims the criteria is not limited to worldly material gain. In order for a Muslim to be succesfull he/she have to perform 4 tasks. These 4 task are described in Surah Al Asr. As a Muslim he/she have to work on his Emaan, do good deeds, call people to the truth and have patience. Every Muslim have to perform these 4 task in order to become successful. Criteria of Decisions Each decsions should be according to the Quran and the sunnah. Goals As a manager his/her goal should not be limited to the market orhis organization. It should also include the hereafter.


MODEL OF ISLAMIC MANAGEMENT The managers in the Muslims world need a simple model, which they can relate to, and they should be able to find meaning in it. For this purpose a simple model is proposed in which any managerial task can be performed. The only conditioned applied is that the task in hand should be within the realm of Islam. The following is a graphical image of a managerial process in Islam. By understanding these four concepts any given task can be done with excellence. The following would be a brief explanation of the Islamic Management Process.

1. Shura Shura is an Arabic word simply meaning consultation. The concept of shura is to consult with the people of knowledge. This process is highly recommended in Islam. It brings about opinions of others when making any sort of decisions. Even the Prophet of Islam (Pease Be Upon Him) use to consult his companion, even though he uses to get divine revelation from God. It is further claim that Quran specifically mentions that all decisions should be based on Shura. In an Islamic Management Process decision-making should not be dependent on a single person. Nevertheless, in fact everyone should be consulted before moving forward. With the help of Shura any organization would improve on communication. It would provide a strong sense of ownership. In addition to that it would also improve the leadership style of the mangers. 2. Taqwa Taqwa is one of those words that are not easily translated in the English language. It is due to this reason many translators struggle to bring about the real meaning of Taqwa. The essence of this word suggests that one should be mindful of his/her relationship with God. Like any other relationship this relationship takes time to mature. It is sort of a long time commitment. In order to achieve Taqwa an individual have to cautious by not indulge in unlawful act, constantly asking for forgiveness from God and encouraging good acts. Taqwa as a managerial process should be used for controlling unethical behavior in an organization. Employees should be trained that they can dodge your supervisor but you cannot dodge God, since He is aware of all seen and the unseen. This act would definitely increase the ethical standard of the organization. 3. Itqan This Arabic word is used to indicate the quality of work. One of the most appropriate translations of this word is to arrange and dispose of things in a scientific and artistic manner to produce the best results. Itqan is also used as a quality related term used by the Prophet of Islam (Pease Be Upon Him). It is the term word used for continually improving performances by an individual or a group in any task, activity or function. At the end of the day the concept of Itqan would discourage employees from performing careless and halfhearted activities (Pasha, 2010). 4. Ihsaan 

Ihsaan implies of doing goodness and behaving in a goodly manner. The word also implies perfecting something or doing something in an excellent manner. Therefore, a person following the principles of Ihsaan has to aim for excellence in all dimensions. He/she have to perform their duties in an excellent manner and behave in an excellent manner when dealing with their fellow human beings.  Therefore, Ihsaan is a very comprehensive terminology. Its application affects a Muslim lifestyle ranging from to personal to professional.

The concept of Ihsaan can really uplift the culture of any organization. This concept would instill excellent behavior among the employees.
