Usage edit
This template should be placed on each subject category page; it categorizes the subject category and displays an appropriate category header, primarily using information provided by the corresponding subject page.
A subject page Subject:name has corresponding category Category:Subject:name. If this template is used on a page whose name is not of the correct form, or if the corresponding subject page does not exist or isn't correctly formatted, this template generates an error message.
The generated category header depends on what information is offered by the subject page. Minimally, the category header directs readers to the subject page. The subject page may provide a description to include in the category header. The subject page may provide the entire category header.
Internals edit
Template {{subject category}} itself only verifies the transcluding page name is of the correct form and deduces the name of the subject, and passes the subject name for further processing to template {{subject category/core}}.
