Template:AltBookCat/doc

This is a documentation subpage for Template:AltBookCat (see that page for the template itself). It contains usage information, categories, and other content that are not part of the original template page.

This template is for use instead of {{BookCat}} for a book whose book name is also the name of a category (such as Topology vs. Subject:Topology). The book category name "Category:{{FULLBOOKNAME}} (book)" is used instead of "Category:{{FULLBOOKNAME}}".

Note that this template's behavior when placed on categories is exactly the same as {{BookCat}}'s. This is because category names are assumed to already have the " (book)" modifier built into them. For example, {{AltBookCat}} would categorize Template:Topology/Tesseract into Category:Topology (book)/Templates; and both {{AltBookCat}} and {{BookCat}} would categorize Template:Topology/Tesseract into Template:Topology (by simply removing suffix /Tesseract).
