A number of eukaryotic membrane proteins have a single C-terminal transmembrane domain which casts them to a variety organelles in secretory and endocytic pathways. These tail-anchored (TA) proteins are recently found to be post-translationally inserted into the endoplasmic reticulum by molecular mechanisms. The TA proteins (GET) pathway is found to be conserved from yeast to young man. This GET pathway seems to be complicated and further studies are in need in order to understand more about it. Up to now, the GET pathway is thought to have relation to membrane protein biogeneses.
