Structural Biochemistry/Organic Chemistry/Types of Marcomolecules

Types of Macromolecules edit

Macromolecules are large polymer chains. They are made up of many monomers linked together. There are four main categories of macromolecules: Carbohydrates, Nucleic Acids (DNA), Lipids, and Proteins. The function of each macromolecule depends on their structure. Monomers are bonded together by a process called dehydration synthesis, while polymers are broken down by hydrolysis.
