Structural Biochemistry/Carbohydrates/Carbohydrates and Proteins/proteoglycans

Introduction Proteoglycans, often recognized for their role in connective tissue, are proteins which have carbohydrates covalently bound to their structure which are important for their function. They are found in extracellular matrix side of cell membranes and are significant in intercellular communication.
