Meeting unknown people

You are always formal with unknown people and therefore there is no informal dialog with them. When you meet an unknown person you introduce yourself to him or her. Here Rajeev (ਰਾਜੀਵ) and Satnam (ਸਤਿਨਾਮ) who do not know each other are meeting in a conference. This is how they interact.

Explanations

• Here Rajeev (ਰਾਜੀਵ) starts the conversation by greeting Satnam with 'ਨਮਸਕਾਰ - Namaskar' and then introduces himself by saying 'I am Rajeev. ਮੈਂ ਰਾਜੀਵ ਹਾਂ। - mein Rajeev haan'.
  
  
• Satnam (ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ) responds by greeting him with 'Namaskar Rajeev - ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਰਾਜੀਵ' and also introduces himself by saying 'My name is Satnam. - ਮੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਹੈ। (Mera naam Satnam he).
  
  
• After the introductions Rajeev (ਰਾਜੀਵ) continues the conversation by telling Satnam 'I am very pleased to meet you - ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਬੜੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਹੋਈ। (Mil ke badi khushi hoi).

Introducing people to others

When a third person (say Kamala) joins in converantation between two persons (ਰਾਜੀਵ and ਸਤਿਨਾਮ as in the above example) and one of them (say ਰਾਜੀਵ) knows the new entrant, it is appropriate that he introduces the new entrant to his partner. This is how it is done.
