This Wikibook is dedicated to the teaching and learning of Punjabi, a language of the Indo-European family. It is spoken by natives of Punjab in India, where it is written in Gurmukhi script, and those of Punjab in Pakistan, where Shahmukhi, an adapted derivative of Arabic script is used.

It is the first official language of Punjab state and second official language of many other states in India. It is the largest spoken language in Pakistan even as it lacks an official status there. It is the tenth most widely spoken language in the world and is spoken internationally by an estimated 100 to 125 million people. With the spread of Punjabi diaspora far and wide, it is now the third most spoken language in Canada and the fourth most spoken language in England and Wales.
