This textbook was initiated as an output of the EARTHTIME Initiative (http://earth-time.org/), an international effort at improving geochronology. This effort is driven by the geochronology community and this Wikibook is an outreach effort arising from this effort.
Geochronology is a broad subject with a large number of sub-disciplines. The initial version of this Wikibook attempts to cover the main stay of geochronology (U-Pb and 40Ar/39Ar) however it would be great if contributors could develop and expand the content to cover topics such as Quaternary Geochronology, Cosmochronology.
This wikibook was initiated as an output from a short course on 'Radio-isotopic dating and Mass Spectrometry' held as part of the GTSnext Marie Curie Initial Training Network (http://www.gtsnext.eu) held in Verbania, Italy, March 2010.
