International Postage Meter Stamp Catalog/Venezuela

Venezuela edit

  • The first meter for private use was installed in 1950.
  • All franks are inscribed “VENEZUELA”.
  • Most stamps show a License number (L#) rather than a Meter number (M#).
  • The stamps are grouped according to appearance and function as follows:
A – Commercial use designs, inscribed “CORREOS”
B – Commercial use designs, inscribed “IPOSTEL”
OO – Official government use

Similar to Type A6 but with “E.E.U.U. DE / VENEZUELA” at top and with large “G.N.” in dotted letters above “CORREOS” at bottom.
Identification number with “U” prefix in small boxes in corners above “CORREOS”.
Proofs are known dated 1943 with earliest recorded use in 1945.
