Ivory Coast edit

  • A former French colony, the Ivory Coast gained formal independence in 1960.
  • All meters are inscribed “COTE D’IVOIRE”.
  • The first meters so inscribed appeared in 1958. For issues before this date, see FRENCH WEST AFRICA.
  • The stamps are grouped according to country inscription:
A - “COTE D’IVOIRE” alone
B - “REPUBLIQUE COTE D’IVOIRE” or “REPUBLIQUE DE COTE D’IVOIRE”
PO - Stamps from machines in post offices, inscribed "LA POSTE de Côte d'Ivoire"

At far left of the frank is a square 2D bar code below a postal code and the town name.
Four codes of unknown purpose are found between the 2D bar code and the frank. The one at lower left appears to be an impression counter number.
