International Postage Meter Stamp Catalog/Czech Republic

Czech Republic edit

The first meter was used in 1993 after the breakup of Czechoslovakia. All stamps show “CESKA REPUBLIKA” in the frank. For issues before 1993 see CZECHOSLOVAKIA.
The stamps are grouped according to usage:
A. Franks with simulated perforation outer frames
B. Franks without outer frames
PO. Stamps generated only by Post Office machines



GROUP A: Stamps for general commercial usage edit

All have simulated-perforation outer border, straight-line inner border, country name in panel at top, and post horn at bottom.

Sub-group AA: Mechanical (non-digital) stamps edit




 

AA1. Postalia “D3” (MV).

Frame is filled in between inner and outer border lines.
Frank width variable from 26 to 29 mm. Frank frame thickness also variable.
Value figures thin and narrow.
Date figures 2, 2½ or 3 mm tall, with or without stops. If with stops, the one between M and Y is closer to the Y.

AA2. Francotyp-Postalia “EFS3000/NEF300” (MV).

As Type AA1 but inner and outer border lines are not filled in.
Value figures thin and narrow.
Date figures 3 mm tall, with stops. The stop between M and Y is always closer to the M.

AA3. Francotyp “C” (MV).

As Czechoslovakia Type B3 but with new country inscription.
Wide spacing between TM and frank.

Similar to Type AA1 (frame lines filled in) but with larger value figures.

Smaller frank with relatively small value figures.

PO1. Vývojářské centrum České pošty s.p. - OZ VAKUS (The Czech Post Research Center, State Enterprise - OZ VAKUS) "APost" (digital), 1994.
Digital stamp printed on a self-adhesive label 41 x 68 mm.
Label has blue outer border, an underprint of diagonal yellow text, a rectangle for the registration or other special service number, and an inner frank in blue with country name at top.
Point-of-sale data printed digitally in black: registration number in box at center left (or string of asterisks if usage is not registered), date, ID number, weight, and postage value.

PO2.1. Vývojářské centrum České pošty s.p. - OZ VAKUS (The Czech Post Research Center, State Enterprise - OZ VAKUS) "APost (second version)" (digital), 1994.
As Type PO1 but shorter label, 29/30 x 68 mm.
The inner frank containing the country name and value figures in red rather than blue.
The town/post office identification is always pre-printed.
The inner box at left usually contains a number, with or without letter(s) prefix, for registration, insurance or other special service. The date, weight and other point-of-sale codes are printed below the box. For routine mail without a special service, the point-of-sale data can print inside the box with a line of asterisks above.
A. Yellow underprint somewhat heavy and uniform throughout the label
B. Yellow underprint is light and is missing or much lighter inside the registration box and the inner frank
C. Similar to A but with yellow underprint inverted.

a. With "VSZ" below 0.00 value figures. This indicates the mail piece already had postage affixed. The label provides the registration number.
b. With "BEZH" below the value figures. This indicates the postage was paid from the mailer's standing account with the post office.
NOTES:
  • Variations exist in both the width of the inner box at left and the font used to print the point-of-sale data. See examples at right. This may be due to system updates or the introduction of new models. More information is needed to describe these with greater accuracy.
  • The value figures are found both on the same level as the line of asterisks/registration number and lower. (This may indicate different machine models.)










 
 
PO2.2. Vývojářské centrum České pošty s.p. - OZ VAKUS (digital).
As Type PO2.1 but the town/post office identification is not pre-printed but applied with the point-of-sale data.
Two slightly different types of font have been used. They are most easily distinguished by the 6-pointed asterisks that print when there is no registration number. One font has asterisks with horizontal bar and the other has asterisks with vertical bar.

PO3.1. Vývojářské centrum České pošty s.p. - OZ VAKUS (digital), 2019.
Plain white self-adhesive label with Czech Post logo at upper left and a line of text at bottom below a bar. The text repeats the country name in Czech and English twice.
Through the centre are two or three lines of data:
The top line shows a registration or other identification number at left and the value figures at right.
The second line has the date at left and the weight at right with two 3-digit codes of unknown purpose between.
The third line, when present, shows a two-letter code which is possibly a town code.
This system is used mostly for valuable mail (RR registered, and VV insured) plus parcels.
