Driver safety involves many factors including education and experience as well as traffic law, road etiquette, and driver habits. By developing and expanding a good sense of all of these through education and experience, a driver becomes much more safe and effective on the road, not only able to avoid collisions and hazards but also able to compensate for poor road and traffic conditions. This reduces the number of accidents, and also allows drivers to keep moving and prevent backups when encountering and reacting to blocked lanes, poor drivers, and other emergency situations.
