Ingredients edit
- Plain flour
- Baking powder
- Salt
- Margarine
- Water
- Sausage meat, cut into medium-sized pieces
- Nutmeg
- Seasoning cubes
Equipment edit
Procedure edit
Dough edit
- Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Use a spoon to scoop small bits of margarine into the flour mixture. Use your fingers to rub the margarine into the flour until the mixture resembles crumbs.
- Mix in small amounts of water until a stiff dough ball is formed.
- Knead the dough thoroughly, then place it in a basin. Cover it, and let it rest for 15 minutes.
Filling edit
- Combine the sausage meat, nutmeg powder, and seasoning cubes.
- Blend to a smooth paste with a hand blender, and set aside.
Assembly edit
- Knead the dough for 10 minutes until smooth and stretchy.
- Roll the dough out to a reasonable thickness. Use a knife to trim the edges and form a rectangle.
- Break the egg and beat it well.
- Brush the dough rectangle with a thin layer of beaten egg. Arrange the sausage filling along one of the rectangle's long edges.
- Fold the dough over the filling, and roll it up. Slice the roll into pieces of your desired length.
- Grease a baking sheet with margarine, and dust it with flour to prevent sticking. Transfer the sausage rolls to the pan, seam-side down.
- Brush the rolls with some beaten egg. Bake the rolls for about 30 minutes at 350°F, or until golden brown.
